The Fisher Grant endowment stipulates that a faculty development committee will invite faculty members to submit grant applications to support research and development opportunities that will improve the faculty member's teaching performance at Catawba. Per the stipulations within the endowment agreement, grants to approved faculty will not exceed $1,000, and will include a report by the faculty member summarizing the grant activity. 
 
All applications are due by Friday, September 25, 2026. No late submissions will be accepted. 

Each year, faculty members are invited to apply for Professional Development Grants to support opportunities that enhance their teaching, scholarship, and professional growth. 

Grant funds may be used for a variety of professional development expenses, including: 

• Conference and workshop registration fees
• Travel and related conference expenses
• Professional development materials, such as books and other resources 

Grant amounts vary each year based on available funding. For the 2026–2027 grant cycle, awards will not exceed $1,200. 

Faculty members who receive funding will be asked to submit a brief report summarizing their professional development experience and the impact of the grant on their professional growth, teaching, or scholarship. 

All applications are due by Friday, September 25, 2026. No late submissions will be accepted. 

Faculty members are invited to apply for the Executive Vice President & Provost Professional Development Grant to support the dissemination of their scholarly, creative, and professional work at conferences and professional gatherings. 

Grant funds may be used to offset expenses associated with presenting, including: 

• Conference registration fees 
• Travel, lodging, and related expenses 
• Presentation materials and other professional expenses 

These grants are designed to support faculty who have been accepted as a presenter at a professional conference or similar scholarly event. 

Faculty members may apply for this award on a rolling basis and are eligible to receive a maximum of $2000/event for a total of two events during the 2026–2027 academic year. 

Faculty members who receive funding will be asked to submit a brief report summarizing their conference presentation experience and the impact of the opportunity on their professional growth, teaching, scholarship, or creative activity. 

This grant program is designed to support the implementation of High Impact Practices (HIPs) by faculty, faculty/staff teams, academic departments, or schools at Catawba. The goal is to enhance student engagement, learning, and success by integrating HIPs into the curriculum and co-curricular activities.

The Environmental Education & Sustainability Professional Development Fund is available for faculty who are engaged in professional growth opportunities that advance environmental education and sustainability in teaching, scholarly activity, or campus engagement. This initiative supports the college's broader commitment to environmental stewardship, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the integration of sustainability across academic programs.  

Faculty can qualify for funding up to $2000 to support activities related to environmental education & sustainability. Eligible activities include but are not limited to: conference attendance or presentations on environmental education & sustainability topics, participation in travel courses with an environmental education & sustainability emphasis, collaborative research, papers, or presentations advancing environmental education & sustainability, development or redesign of courses with a major environmental education & sustainability focus, and class activities or experiential learning projects related to environmental education & sustainability that directly benefits students.  

Recipients will be required to submit a report of their activity within one month of the opportunity date. 

This grant has a rolling deadline and may be awarded up to twice a year (Once/term).
