Transfer of Credit
If you have an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or an Associate of Science (A.S.) from a North Carolina Community College covered under the 2015 Independent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement, all of your general education requirements at Catawba will be met.
Transferring Credits
Graduates of North Carolina Community College degree programs (Associate of Arts or Associate of Science) covered under the 2015 Independent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement may receive up to 64 semester hours transfer credit. Students who have attended or are currently attending an accredited four-year institution may transfer up to 90 semester hours of credit to Catawba College, as determined by Catawba's Registrar. Students who are attending or have attended an accredited community or junior college may transfer up to 60 semester hours of credit to Catawba College.

Music Transfer Students
Âé¶¹APPhas an articulation agreement with all North Carolina community colleges which offer an AFA in Music programs. This allows for a seamless transition of students from community college to bachelor degree programs in Music at Catawba College.

Education Licensure Transfer Students
Although students who complete the A.S. or A.A. degree and transfer to Âé¶¹APPmeet general education requirements, they may not necessarily meet certain requirements for teacher licensure. Catawba and RCCC "Learn Local, Grow Local" Program
Âé¶¹APPand Rowan-Cabarrus Community College have partnered for the Learn Local, Grow Local program that will provide graduates from Rowan-Cabarrus guaranteed admission to Âé¶¹APPand transfer with junior standing into more than 30 different programs. Additionally, Catawba College guarantees daytime students at least 50 percent tuition and fees in scholarships and grants to RCCC graduates with at least a 3.5 GPA.
Advanced Placement Credit (AP)
Students who receive a score of 3, 4, or 5 on Advanced Placement (AP) exams administered by the College Board may receive credit at Catawba College. Students who wish to receive college credit for their AP exam scores must submit an official score report to the Registrar’s Office.
College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
Âé¶¹APPrecognizes the College-Level Exam Program (CLEP) and may grant credit for examination scores of 50 or higher as recommended by ACE. Students who wish to receive college credit for CLEP scores must submit an official score report to the Registrar’s Office.
International Baccalaureate Certificate (IB)
Âé¶¹APPrecognizes IB higher level work and may grant credit for examination scores of 4, 5, 6, or 7 on higher level courses only. No credit is given for standard level examinations. No credit will be given for English Composition. Students who wish to receive college credit for their IB higher level scores must submit an official score report to the Registrar’s Office.
Military Credit
Âé¶¹APPawards credit for coursework offered by the military or for military experience in accordance with the recommendations in the Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services, published by the American Council on Education, provided a) Âé¶¹APPoffers a comparable course to that recommended by the Guide; and b) The student produces proper documentation from the Department of Defense (DD214 form) and/or military transcript.
Students enrolled at Âé¶¹APPwho wish to participate in military courses for transfer credit should secure permission from the Registrar prior to participation in the military work. The Registrar will determine whether academic credit will be granted. Students can access their military transcripts on the .
The College does not award credit for courses taken on a non-credit basis with the exception of military credit or experience.
